Although it does have a public right of way across it, dog owners are reminded that the field behind the village hall, church and the rear of Halford Way, is privately owned and is used a number of times a year for sheep, including lambs.
With regard to public rights of way, official guidance states:
– You are allowed to walk your dog as long as it is under your close control.
– When walking a dog, you must ensure that it keeps to the public footpath and does not trespass into nearby properties.
Certainly, if there are sheep loose in the field then your dog should be on a lead. Similarly if there are young children in the field then your dog should remain under very close control.
Most importantly: take dog poo bags with you, clean up after your dog and dispose of the bags in one of the several waste bins supplied for this purpose around the village. Thank you.
